Mark Twain goes to war with The Private History of a Campaign That Failed, his fictionalized reminiscences of his brief, inglorious career in the Confederate militia. Pat Hingle and a fine ensemble cast of 15 talented young actors play the callow, fun-loving troop of Marion Rangers who panic and react disgracefully when confronted with the realities of battle. As an epilogue, Edward Herrmann stars in Mark Twain's famous War Prayer with its stirring anti-war message. All together, it’s a deeply moving highly acclaimed production.
