Mark Twain goes to war with The Private History of a Campaign That Failed, his fictionalized reminiscences of his brief, inglorious career in the Confederate militia. Pat Hingle and a fine ensemble cast of 15 talented young actors play the callow, fun-loving troop of Marion Rangers who panic and react disgracefully when confronted with the realities of battle. As an epilogue, Edward Herrmann stars in Mark Twains famous War Prayer with its stirring anti-war message. All together, it’s a deeply moving highly acclaimed production.

*Very few prints of The Private History of a Campaign That Failed exist. After an extensive search we found what we believe to be the best surviving elements.
